Magic is still alive

The local Historical Society held their fund-raiser here last night, it was called "An Evening at the Manse". About 24 people attended, and almost all of them had stories to tell: their childhood memories of being here in the house when it was the church Manse.

One comment stands out. Barbara Clement stood in the doorway of one of the bedrooms and said...

"I remember sitting on the edge of the bed in this room when Patsy, the Minister's daughter, told me there was no Santa Claus. I guess I already knew it," she said with a big sigh, "But I just wanted so desperately to believe."

Thankfully Barbara realized last evening that Martha and Merrill are doing everything they can in this old house, after all these years, to convince everyone that there really IS a Santa Claus. (comments welcome)
Photo: We used leaves to fashion a magic pathway from the church parking lot across the yard to Wyndham House...or, as it was known last night, the Manse.

What a glorious picture of the yard. Yes, I check out your website every now and then to keep track of your exploits and keep my own sanity. Wish I was there. It will be marvelous to spend Fall and Christmas on the island, no? Have you found a house yet. Love to both of you. Miss you
